Strange thing 'democracy' . After Der Mauer came down many of the people suddenly subjected to democracy pined for the return of East Germany. Some still do.

Nowt as queer as folk.
Worked with a Serb who longed for the days under Tito. Having to sort out your own pension, medical insurance and so on confused the hell out of him. He was happy to sit back and let the state do all that and just follow their orders.

Some folks shouldn't leave the house unless on a leash with a minder holding the other end.

This looks more like a putsch by Cummings. Johnson is nothing more than his sock puppet.
I did here a little dit that’s rumoured to true which was at the spad meeting before the reshuffle, Cummings said ‘I’ll see 50% of you next week’. The spads thought it was a sick joke. Looking at the casualties, it’s about 50%.

I do like Cummings and he has the added benefit of being a Durham lad

DomCom seems to be the kind of guy who likes controversy and sailing as close to the wind as he can. Trouble with that is even though they are often revolutionary and get things done, quickly, they go that step too far, not because it is needed but because they can't help themselves, and have to be sacked.

I feel that this is the fate awaiting DomCom.

I think it says a lot about a blokes character. It probably says something about those who don’t care as well.
I think, like Betwixt, that it says a lot about you really. What it probably says about me is I'm a realist, understanding that no two people are the same and sometimes even the best of us are flawed.

That you can't focus on anything else but Boris and his numerous liaisons whilst convieniently not mentioning the likes of Prince Charles who also couldn't keep his little soldier buttoned up (whilst married by the way) says a lot about you, but I won't speculate on what exactly.

Noticed in the on line papers today , McDonald is bringing up questions about the new chancellors past work in hedge funds
Don't know about you ,, but I would want a chancellor who had a background in finance (as Javid did) , who made money for his clients, especially if I was one of his clientss

Maybe we should go down the socialist road , for example , an education shadow minister , who didn't finish school, but did however finish a course in signing (handy for speaking to deaf constituents , the many thousands that she obviously has in her constituency.

It put me in mind of something I watched a few moths ago "Chernobyl"... when the nuclear scientist went to her boss , to tell him what needed to be done immediately,, only to be fecked off " don't tell me how to run a business , I ran a factory that produced millions of boots for our Soviet soldiers when they were needed , I don't need your advice!"

Prince Charles isn’t the subject of this thread, he has no power and isn’t the PM of this country.
There are millions of unfaithful blokes with kids they don’t acknowledge. Do you want them all name checked.
BJ is The PM and as such I expect more.

Why? If he is doing his job as PM what does it matter what he does with his private life? I know our gutter press love salacious stories and have brought down many competent people in the past. Of course if you want the country led by the likes of PMTM who was so guilty about running through a corn field then crack on - I prefer a competent person on the job, so to speak!

You won't get saintliness in the HoP I'm afraid, and certainly not in most houses of religion. Look at the fiddler's of expenses and the...erm, gatherers of children. On a slight tangent, I've worked with people whose personal lives were shit on a stick and yet delivered everything that was asked of them work wise. Just because a bloke cheats on his missus doesn't mean he's shit at his job. BJ is my PM and his job is leading the country, not being my moral compass. If you wanted a "clean" leader as PM then Corbyn was the man you voted for, if you could stand his politics that is.

I don't think Corbyn is that "clean". Some of the comments from his previous wives are less than complimentary.

Its not the cheating, thats just life plenty of powerful people do that. It’s when you can’t even confirm how many children you have and with whom. It indicates a personality defect and looks unpleasant.

I’m fairly sure I would fail my vetting if I was in that position. It’s a part of his private life, that he is vulnerable over.

Boris could be cleaner than the Pope and Vestal Virgins but you would still find fault.

As to failing vetting, I thought they were more concerned with hidden faults rather than those that are well documented.

I think there's a difference between you and the PM. The difference is this. Im assuming you are an LEO of some sort here, I'm not sure which branch and I mean no disrespect.
You have to deal directly with members of the public as an officer of the law, and you have to uphold those institutions. You can arrest a man for a criminal charge and so therefore cannot be someone who has committed the same. You have to be squeaky clean. Upholding the reputation of the force and all that. The PM doesn't interface directly with the public as such. He has people to do that for him. So long as he doesnt do anything that he can be arrested for, he has a much freer rein than you. At a time of one in three marriages ending in divorce and children born of wedlock becoming far more common, his indescretions probably cause far less outre now than they did forty years ago. Yes, it would be nice to have a saint in charge, but saints rarely understand the failings of sinners, not are they willing to exploit them to get things done. In the Augean stables that is the HoP, you need a shit shifter.

I can fully accept the good qualities of BJ, he will definitely achieve some good things over his period as PM. I voted to put him into power and also want him to succeed.

However competence and propriety aren’t mutually exclusive. I dislike how he treats the public like idiots and refuses to be truthful about matters. I would have way more respect for him if he was up front. I think the public would as well.

In that case, why doesn’t he just be honest. And front up.
