I used to hate visits by Politicians and was quite successful in avoiding them when they appeared in our orbit. I have to say though, if I was still serving I would have been pushing to the front to get a chance of a natter with Boris. Appears the sort of bloke you would be happy to sit next to at a Dinner night.
Corbyn on the other hand................

Any accounts of the 'can I have a photo please PM'
Yes no problem
LCpl Jones hands the PM a photo taking device
That happened to David Beckham in Bastion.

He wasn't happy

I am so glad that there is always someone to regurgitate these stories. I may have missed it otherwise and then how would I sleep

Got an invite to number 10 while Blair was in (tea or supper or some shit for the Forces). I had a very unfortunate prior family commitment that it was simply unpossible to break.

I heard he took the picture with a smile
Dunno the pongo equivilent but I think its "fleet dit" now.
Every celeb visiting wherever probably gets asked the same. They are probably briefed to expect it.

I had an invite to No 10 during the summer before May stepped down. Fortunately, I was recovering from surgery and so couldn't go...

That's a bootneck dit- Done to Tony Blair in Iraq I believe.
Can't remember where I heard it first, possibly on here.
60th anniversary of Day and the Brits (led by HMQ) are having a parade on the front at Arromanches. The event was preceded by a heads of state event up on the hill above. Dignitaries and wives of are to be escorted down the hill by we brits. DCOS 101 Log Bde is Black Watch and he gets to accompany Cherie Blair. He is in full kilted rig looking every inch (well over 6 ft of him ) the Scottish warrior. On the way down a French voice calls out from behind the barrier.

"Ooo magnificent! May my young daughter ave er photo wiz you?"

"Of Course!" says Cherie

"Not you" our lovely French lady cries "eeeem" pointing at DCOS.

Meanwhile on the Square His Tonyness is glad handing all the wheelchair bound veterans at the front of the crowds. In the otherwise quiet and soleemn evening air the voice of a more able veteran at the back rings out

"And you can f*ck off too, you are not welcome here."

Priceless.
