And yet the prisons are full, police cells are full, Mags Courts have a 300k backlog and Crown Court about a 60k backlog.

All that with 20k cops less, 22k police staff less, 600 police stations closed, 160 courts closed and the wider CJS starved of investment.

You get what you invest. This appears to be what the government of the last 12 years wants for this country.

If they left it to the public's choice that backlog would clear up faster than you could tie the nooses...

If they left it to the public's choice that backlog would ..
be absolutely enormous as the public would be committing those crimes they were moaning about the crims committing.

The law applies to all not just those you approve of. Revenge isn't law.

'Be ye never so high the law is above you'

Personally I'd make drug dealing a capital crime, but I'm a soft liberal at heart.

Apart from all the other considerations, something that has become glaringly apparent is that the booze-soaked subculture that exists in Downing Street is something that the erstwhile Cold War dipsomaniacs of BAOR would have struggled to keep up with.
You speak for yourself.

But the white guys always do professionally ie a nice suit a posh accent and a good public school education.

The City of London literally wash's the money of Criminals, if its best museum was a house it would have Police tape around it, our politicians literally sell honours in the Houses of Parliament, we still invade other nations when we feel like it Etc.

I always recall a story i heard from Sierre Leon a white man caught a young Black kid stealing his apples when asked why the kid replied he was an Orphan and hungry and had not eaten for days, the white man then told him that from then on he would take care of the child by sending him the best schools in England and they would show how to steal with a Pen...and that is what happens

Look at the BBC the top brass was probable still is Public school educated, and old ladies get 18 stone men on their doorstep asking them why they have failed to pay Fion'as Bruces wages.

Teach the lad to code now.....

;)

You appear to be conflating a judicial system which isn't fit for purpose and police efficiency.

Are you happy with plod clear up rates, and somehow think that's the cause of a system overload?

I can't recall the last time anyone I know reported a crime and experienced any sort of interaction with plod beyond being given a crime number for the insurance.

They're all over 30+mph drivers like a tramp on hot chips, though.

Clear up rates could be improved overnight.

Would make f-all difference to actual crime.

There's a reason why Crime Management Units (which used to monitor crime reports for example in the Met), used to have a experienced police sergeant and your most wiley old Detective sergeant on them.

And Taking into Consideration.....ah, those good old bad old days.

Made f-all difference to crime, but won promotions and kept the Home Office happy.

My personal favourite were the officers potted for sharing extreme pornography (discovered as part of the telephone examination).

Still, officers held accountable for their actions or inactions. You can tell they're PC's not MP's.

I did chuckle at the Times this morning.

I imagine that this Johnson is plotting his fightback as previously loyal donors turned on him and threatened to stop funding must have concentrated minds.

Funniest thing of the whole day was the Cabinet minister who apparently said -

Wow. Prime Minister reads briefs.

The article mentions 'Populist policies' - today it is leaked that the Navy is (allegedly) to start to take charge of the Channel Operations.

I’m also a German interpreter. Plus French A-level and basic Greek, Serbo-Croat, Norwegian and Turkish. A few niceties in Arabic and Nepali, just enough to raise a smile.
Wow. Able to say "I'm so sorry for Brexit" in how many languages?
