First thoughts on PMBoris, will he make a difference?

Its this sort of bollox that make it

There has always been more than an element of the playground in this. Demand someone do something and then accuse them of doing aU-turn or of being weak when they do it.

BoJo has said that he doesn't want to impose a blanket lockdown but that it can't be rules out.

Politicians simply can't resist the opportunities to feather their own political nests, and totally without regard to the apolitical nature of the threat to both lives and livelihoods.

It is a bit like stealing a TV from a shop during a breakdown of law and order - you gain in the short-term, only to get home and find there's no longer any electricity...

How much?

PMQs is always transmitted live and in full:

Well done old chap, well done. You are so hilariously wrong about everything that even when you state actual facts, it's to argue against a point that hasn't been made. Keep it up please, the nation needs a laugh.

The pub lockdown ordered by Sturgeon appears to be being well received in Scotland.

Are any countries having a full lockdown?

Not yet I think, but France has taken a step closer with curfews in the big (and some not so big) cities.
Nearly a third of the population will be subject to this, from 9pm to 6pm daily for up to 6 weeks.
Thinking of breaking the curfew are we?
First offence €135 on the spot, second and subsequent offences €1500.
On the very same spot.
After 6 weeks these regulations can be extended by parliament until 1st December if needed.

It is “World Beating” though, that doesn’t come cheap.

Of course, the company employing them and their clients will have been only too happy to release them from any existing contractual obligations and without compensation naturally. it being declared a national emergency and all that.

Can't tell you've spent your whole life on the tax payers' teats, can we? Such a wealth of commercial experience you've brought to the thread.

Edit spell checker didn't like teats

And, yet, you've spent the last few dozen pages criticizing him ad nauseam for not having the answer to a problem is uncertain in both nature and severity.

Bravo!

Nope - I've been saying he's been putting too much emphasis on preventing Covid 19 deaths and too little on the problems of the economy. The governments strategy now seems to be placing additional emphasis on the economy.

No point in the post Covid analysis saying "they made a desert and called it the economy"

Don't people, you know, have to be alive for the whole concept of an economy to be viable? And fewer people being alive means a less viable economy.

Official government statistics on Covid 19 related deaths.

Here's the English ones.

We're seeing nothing like the rate of deaths back in April. We've got better at dealing with the disease

And here's the daily deaths for the last 5 days - from a population of 65 million. And some of those are not definitely identified as due to Covid 19.

It's a tiny percentage of the population.

Perhaps people had better start looking at the numbers and trying to understand them?
