This coming weekend, on Saturday in fact (please check for exact times with the RRW museum in Brecon on 01874 613310) there is another Welsh book event for 'A Long Long war; Voices of the British Army in Northern ireland, 1969-98'

This time, rather than being purely an RRW event, all the RWF and Welsh Guards veterans, families etc have been invited. There will be a video on the troubles culminating in a full Roll of Honour of all three of the Welsh regiments as well as book signings etc. The museum is also an excellent one and the day should be very interesting.

Contacts at the museum are Arfon Williams and Martin Everett. If you can make it, please come and certainly tell your friends and comrades about it.

The following day, I will be interviewing veterans for the second book on the trouibles which again, will be from OUR perspective.

The following is from the museum website:

Following the successful launch at Brecon of his new book 'The Long Long War' about the ‘Troubles’ in Northern Ireland on 12 July 2008, the author, Ken Wharton, a Northern Ireland veteran himself, is returning to the regimental museum in Brecon to gather stories for a second volume. The first book is a fine tribute to everyone in the British Forces and the RRW who took part in Op Banner. On this visit, Ken will be on hand to personally sign copies of his book and talk to comrades about mutual experiences in Northern Ireland between 1000 and 1600 hrs. At 1430 hrs Ken will give a presentation in the Study Centre. Refreshments will be available. We do hope you are able to come to Brecon and make it a memorable weekend.

Warmest best wishes

Blue skies -

Ken Wharton
