Zero 6 Bravo is the story of an SBS operation with SAS embeds during the Iraq war. Sent hundreds of miles into enemy territory, ostensibly to take the surrender of the 100,000 strong 5th Iraqi Army Corps. Matters went disastrously wrong and this is the story of that operation - kept secret for many years.

For your chance to win one of three copies of this book just complete the entry form which can be found here.

The book is being reviewed by old_fat_and_hairy and Damien Lewis is also being interviewed by OFAH so look out for them soon.

Closing date for this competition is Sunday 17th March.

Wonder if the phase 'then the training kicked in' is in there somewhere?

    Entered :excited:

  5. "... Those who say they're not scared are lying."

With so many disastrous operations its a miracle the strategic objectives were achieved during Desert Storm.

  7. Like horses really. A good old cob will keep going forever. Show a thoroughbred a pebble and it'll incur a vets bill. The cob won't win the Derby though........

  8. I met a bloke who's claim to fame was co-axing a BMP from 2k away even though he had the shits and so wasn't wearing any pants (he'd had a bum ND moments earlier)

Now that's a war story made better by the fact that he openly admits it'd already been given a dose of fast air so his own arrse posed a greater immediate threat to his safety.

Maybe "they" missed a trick and should have just swanned around shooting at things that had been spanked by the sky gods.

This has been the competition with the most entries for a long time so there is obviously a lot of interest. Only three books on offer as prizes though and these go to:

    • AlienFTM
    • Ss9167
    • Quicksand

As ever I shall be emailing these guys to let them know and telling them they have 2 weeks to claim their prize.

The answers to this ridiculously simple quiz are:

Q1 - The Iraqi tank 'Lyon of Babylon' is based on the Soviet T-72
Q2 - Motto of the SBS is "By Strength and Guile"
Q3 - A DPV landrover is a Desert Patrol Vehicle

Well done to the three winners. Remember there is a competition currently running for "Rommel's Desert Warriors" and a new competition starting tomorrow for "STERLING" a first time novel of an ex-SF man going vigilante - look out for the comp.

Hurrah, didn't have space on my bookshelf for it anyway.

  12. Are all Zulu-_-Bravo /Bravo-_-Zulu missions diasters waiting to happen?
Damien Lewis appears to have the appointment to write/ghost all 'them' books, he used to be a good investigative journalist in the past.
