Boobs and Warbirds: the Art of Romain Hugault

Loving the artwork, but I'm somewhat reticent to spend £116 on amazon for an English language version.

Early next year ANGEL WINGS - cycle 1 "Burma Banshees" will be released in English language. Price: probably £ 25 (hardback). A translation of this 144 page omnibus/bundle. Update ASAP.

Scenario (brief):
It's 1944. After the Japanese forces have occupied Burma, they threaten India and China. Meanwhile US pilots provide a daring and dangerous, continuous airlift between the two Allied nations to stem the advance of Japan.
The busty Fifinella Lt. Angela "Angel" McCloud is a W.A.S.P. (Woman Airforce Service Pilot), and an O.S.S. agent. The goal of her missions are to fly her C-47 Dakota over "the Hump", the Himalayan massif, to supply the Allied forces in China. These missions are vital for the course of the war in Indo-China.
Between 2 attacks from Japanese planes, "Angel" will have to prove herself to be accepted and earn the respect of the famous Burma Banshees, the squadron escorting the cargo planes with their P-40 Warhawks.
Angela McCloud meets the U.S.O.- artist Jinx Falkenberg at the base of the Burma Banshees too, after the C-46 Whale with Jinx had an emergency landing. They are no friends however, a complex situation for Burma Banshee Lt. Robins "Rob" Clower, who is in love with both.
Via flashbacks we learn step by step more about the murder mystery of Fifinella Maureen McCloud, Angela's sister. (This murder mystery continues in cycle 2 "Pacific" though.)

Overview ANGEL WINGS albums (standard, special-edition, omnibus) so far: ANGEL WINGS | Paquet
(Every standard album has a special edition also (king size format, including a poster, dia or decal), and are uncensored.)

*********************************************************************

The other project of artist Romain Hugault was PIN-UP WINGS: 4 albums with WW-II pin-ups. No trilogy, but stand-alone drawings with sexy pin-up gals. See also permalink #328.
These 4 albums are via Amazon-UK about £ 13.62 each, FREE DELIVERY. (my source).
As they are mainly picture books, translation into English isn't necessary.

It looks like, after 4 volumes, "Pin-up Wings" has been discontinued. Early this year just 2 maps with stickers of pin-up gals from these albums were published.

Scenario ANGEL WINGS volume 4 "Paradise Birds" (part 1 of the 2nd cycle/trilogy called "Pacific"):

Somewhere over the Pacific, north of New Guinea. Fifinella Angela "Angel" McCloud and her native gunner Taaroa are flying with her Grumman J2F-5 "Duck". She reluctantly flies from base to base with passenger Betty Hutton, a popular artist and pin-up girl, who is addicted to amphetamines. Suddenly the old seaplane is attacked by 2 Japanese warbirds, but due to the intervention of 2 Vought F4U Corsairs the "Duck" manages to escape and returns to the island of Ulithi, a paradise atoll serving as a base for the US-Marines to rest.
Fortunately, this mission with miss Hutton is just a cover. The O.S.S. charges Angela with a mission of greater importance: landing overnight on the coast of an island held by the Japanese, to capture a Japanese pilot. The latter agreed, after being blackmailed (his sister is being held captive in the US, because of landslide), to contact a Japanese pacifist group close to the Emperor Hiro-Hito, to accept the American conditions for a honorable capitulation of the Empire of the Rising Sun. If successful, this mission could save many lives.
But this mission appears to be much more complex than expected, because the Japanese secret services are not willing to accept a surrender.
Confronted with an old crush, the dashing O.S.S.-captain William Fowler, who is charged with the safety of the captured pilot, Angela McCloud can't forget the past and the mystery surrounding the circumstances of the tragic death of her sister Maureen (read cycle 1 "Burma Banshees".)

The Google translate app for your phone is for you. Especially with camera activation - hold the phone over the text and it translates it in the screen for you without any typing

Then I recommend ANGEL WINGS - Cycle 1 (volumes 1 - 3) via Amazon.de: € 22.06 / £ 19.50, FREE DELIVERY!
The drawings are awesome! You will not regret it.

And ANGEL WINGS volume 4 via Amazon.de also: € 14.02 / £ 12.40, FREE DELIVERY.
Also with awesome art. The album even comes with a bonus ( this ex-libris in album size)

Both albums are on stock, but the sale of the very cheap Cycle 1 bundle goes very well.

Amazon.de sells often foreign (comic) books to customers from outside Germany without shipping costs.

There's an aircraft in the picture? I keep looking for it and... mmm, legs... no, seriously, is there even a background?

It's time for some ANGEL WINGS updates! The latest Volume (5) and future plans.

Above: the standard album (hardcover). There is also a special, king-size edition with a bonus ( a signed scarf):

----and there is a 2nd special, limited edition (only the cover art is different):

Last week ANGEL WINGS volume 5 "Black Sands" has been released. Volume 2 of the 2nd cycle (trilogy) called "Pacific".
After volume 6 (Oct. 2019) a 3rd and final cycle (trilogy too, volumes 7, 8 and 9) has been planned with Angela McCloud during the Korean War. She then will be 6 years older. (With volume 6 we are in 1945.)

Some great drawings by artist Romain Hugault from "Black Sands" (= Iwo Jima), part I:

2x Busty Fifinella Angela "Angel" McCloud in Angel Wings #5:

Angela is in love too: with Lt. Robbins "Rob" Clower from the first cycle "Burma Banshees":

This time Rob is a B-29 Flying Fortress pilot (notice pin-up Hitomi Tanaka on the B-29 fuselage, between "Tokyo Club"):

Thanks for that, I've added it to my Christmas list should Santa or the current mrs_mush deem me to have been good enough all year

"Angel Wings goes 3-D":

Artis Romain Hugault with the special, king-size edition of Angel Wings volume 4 (Summer 2017).

English editions available then?
Will be difficult because of brief nudity. No problem at all on the Continent, but presumaby in the Anglo-Saxon countries... (Cinebook-UK for instance is censoring a lot of European made graphic novels because of brief, innocent nudity and smoking).
Nevertheless, English langue releases of aviation-series Angel Wings are planned for 2019.
Angel Wings wil contain 9 volumes (= 3 trilogies).

A "top secret" 3-D dia: as a bonus, when you buy the French standard album of Angel Wings Volume 4:

Scenario ANGEL WINGS #5 "Black Sand" (brief):
Since Lt. Angela McCloud after an attack by the Japs stranded in Iwo Jima, she as a Fifinella has to find a new job and finally becomes a member of the (efficient) air-sea rescue service with a P-51D Mustang with an additional tank aka "Josephine". Patrolling, no combat missions; nevertheless it's a thankless job that can save lives, but not always… (More historical info: 506th Fighter Group Captain Abner Aust: 506th Fighter Group, 457 Fighter Squadron, 458 Fighter Squadron, 462 Fighter Squadron Lawrence Smith 472601 ).
