Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. This is probably a bone question, but bear with me.

I should probably know this, but what is a COMD AMA.

No piss taking please, I just want to know.
  2. Commander Artillery Manouevre Area?
  3. the commanders personal phillipino washer and ironer
  4. Commander Air Manouevre Area surely firestarter!
  5. But AMA does stand for Artillery Manouevre Area. Engr ops and all that..
  6. army mountaineering association?
  7. Commander's Assistant Military Advisor. For those that are too junior to be allocated an MA or an ADC but are still pretty busy.

From experience it's normally 1* level in Comd. As all 1* have civvy personal secretaries when in barracks, once deployed they need someone to sort out diaries, meetings etc.

Frankie's correct. Regularly found in NATO HQs where Gens of other nations need a english speaker in the outer office but have their own MA with them already.
