Bloke on the Range videos

I am not quite sure.

For the minimal cost and creativity involved it might well be worth it.

You would be dealing with the main reasons the gun is not particularly accurate and doing so without specialist additions.

I bet if you asked the average gun enthusist why AKs were lacking in accuracy, you wouldnt get the right answers.
A lot of Bloke's subscriber base will be people interested in historic firearms and how they were used in their original context. Taking an original and then modifying it would be sort of missing the point for them.

It's like I'm sure that putting a red dot sight on a Martini-Henry would interest some people, but it wouldn't interest most of the people who are interested in Martini-Henries.

You said yourself that there are already AK variants which already have the features you are talking about. If there is an interest in showing how accurate an AK can be then just use one of those. A comparative shoot-off of different stock AK variants would probably garner more interest from Bloke's audience than him modifying and shooting one.

There's loads of gun related channels out there. The key to getting a subscriber base and patrons is to find a niche with not many other people in it and then do it well.

I see your point.

But the degree of engineering involved in changing an Ak barrel and welding some flats to the receiver is genuine "bloke in the shed level " stuff.

The milled receiver AKs still seem to suffer dispersion from their flexy barrel. The RPK thickness stamped receivers with heavy barrels up to the gass port are genuinely accurate for what they are. These are sporting Rifles with an Klashnikov action. Though quite a few MAK-90s with an RPK length barrel made it into the states before the ASW ban, they dont seem to stand out perhaps its a normal thickness receiver?

I did put a red dot sight on Snider once. It was a little Holographic sight that I made a mount for, fitted it to where the original rear sight was.Still threw bullets everywhere like a mad womans piss however.

I was going to give you a "like" until I got to the last paragraph. I hope that no original Sniders were harmed in that conversion, because if they were I'm going to reach through the Internet and choke you (as no doubt would a great many of Bloke's viewers).

Well there is no need to be threatening or rude.

You can hardly tell where I welded the Brengun tripod onto the barrel. I simply cut it off with a grinder and hammerited the metal work .

That mount worked on Martini's too, MLE's as well.

Welcome to Arrse. You have a steep learning curve ahead of you.

As for your idea about changing barrels / accurizing on Chinese AKs made of cheese and fagbutts it seems pretty clear that @stoatman isn't interested so if you're so keen on the idea there's nothing wrong with doing it yourself. Either a full bore Youtube effort or a thread on here.

Of course you'll have to deal with randoms saying things like "Just be a better shot", but it'll help you toughen up your internet skin.

Best of luck...

I cant quite understand your point of veiw.

My relpy was ment to be a joke, much like my referance to welding a Bren Bipod onto a Snider barrel and hammerite painting it afterwards.

I couldnt care less if Stoatman isnt interested in my idea, the thread was making a bit of a change from the normal " what shotgun for £28?" , " look at my Tikka T3" and " how do I use a thread gauge?" type stuff.

I would have been happy to craft something up before the prices skyrocketed here. I sold the last two AKM's I assembled from parts kits for a rediculous $900 each.

I wonder why so few people post here these days?

You don't understand my point of view? OK - my point of view on your previous posts was that IMHO it was a crap idea to try and persuade Bloke to do a sh1t feature on making your personal wet-dream of a sniper AK, and if you want something like that maybe you should try doing it yourself.

You don't say?

My bold above: Yes, and that's why you're still whining like a bitch-slapped puppy. Top tip: if you want to take a thread in a different direction than it's been going, consider starting a thread of your own.

That's nice.

I dunno, but you're absolutely right - it's a real worry that there's only 208 pages of posts on this thread...

A very passive-aggressive, whiny post there, are you a sock for Maalox by any chance? Probably not, you haven't slagged off the Jews or asked "what is this gun?" yet.

And FFS turn your spell checker on.

I didn’t think Maalox but after his second post on this thread my reaction was this bloke is a bit demanding bet this is a sock leading to a oh so wizard wheeze of a wind up by some brain donor

I’ve heard of calling your shots, but calling your malfunctions is a new one. (10:50)

So what was the actual conclusion of all that, or are you addressing that in a later video?
The N3 angled is great, possibly *too* great. The slant brake is surprisingly effective for something so dumb and simple.
