Black Rim on Helmet

#1
I have done a search on this but couldn't find anything...

Can anyone give me details on how to fit a black rim to your helmet?
I have heard it is done with NBC/CBRN over boots... is that correct?

Wouldn't they be a bit big for your helmet...or are you just showing off?

What for?

Are you trying to look 'well ally'?

4T inner tube, in water and stretch out with a weight (like your twos tie). Wack it on the helmet, and it will shrink down.

Makes you look like a seasoned pro. Most people I know who (for some reason) do it use NBC, sorry CBRN boots...

In my unit we used to use them for bridge dems and attaching various things, everyone was supposed to have two on their helmet (min needed to attach a hayrick).
See all sorts with them now, a lot of blokes just seem to have them to keep their helmet covers on and stop the edges getting frayed (and some just to look gucci).

1. That is a really heavy inner tube.
2. WTF is placing an inner tube in water going to do?
3. My number two dress tie does not weigh that much.
4. I will not 'wack' anything on my helmet.

Out of curiosity, since I'm not in the know, what is the black rim on the lid actually for ?
It stops your helmet cover parting company with your helmet.

Another solution is to ensure the cover is a bigger size than the helmet.
