A legend wherever he went and a true ambassador for the sport.

Among the many stories.

After the World Cup final he woke up on the floor of a house in Dagenham with no recollection whose house it was and how he got there.

Lived life to the full.

RIP

RIP Jack.

He put Ireland on the footballing map and helped provide some great sporting memories, Euro 88 and Italia 90 for example.

Great days and many thanks big man.

True, except when he was a dirty Leeds United git ;-)

RIP Jack you were one of the greats.

Always thought there was something of the donkey walloper about him!

Made my 15th Birthday a thing to remember. England won Germany lost, either way it was win win for me.
RIP one of the best.
At that time I lived several miles away from Wembley Stadium. You could hear the spectators in Wembley cheering from our back garden. Mind you, back in 1966, the ambient hubbub was probably considerably less than it is today.

We heard the roar in South America. About here:

Company Management club.

It was via the telly, mind.

If you ain't cav you ain't....

A saying emblazoned on both sides of a Batus banger in 1995 using G10 issue white stickers belonging to a cav officer I indirectly worked for. Good chap BTW.

Thread drift I know.

To give you an indication of the esteem Jack Is held in over here, the main evening 6.1 news was just on. 30 min programme. About 2 mins on COVID19, 2 mins on Srebrencia anniversary, say 4 mins of adverts.... 20 mins on Jack.

2 hour documentary about the Jack years being reshown tomorrow
