BFPO help any posties know the gen.

I am shortly to deploy on Op Herrick.

I know my det address etc however I have family who live outside the UK and I dont think writing BFPO will be speedily recognised in that country, if at all.

Would they then write Brit Forces Post Office, RAF Northolt, Middlesex, England after that, thus ensuring it gets at least to the sorting office and then it gets forwarded to the said BFPO Op number?

Appreciate any steers on how to correctly tackle this.

Many thanks.
In the olden days, they would have put your BFPO address down and then write 'BFPO London, UK' after it. But let someone more up to date confirm.
I get stuff all the time from foreign lands. Just get them to put UK at the end of the address and even the mongest foreign postie will know it needs to go the UK.
Lamin, my advice is either send to the welfare office or somewhere to redirect

or stick England/UK/Great Britain below the address.

You arn't affected by BFPO rules on charges etc until t hits this country, but it needs to get to this countries mail system.

Other than that follow these rules
HM Forces Mail | Royal Mail Ltd
In fact...

Q. Can I send a letter or parcel to an individual serving on Op TELIC & Op HERRICK from outside the UK ?
Yes. After the BFPO number please include in the address c/o BFPO HQ, United Kingdom as the below format:-
Service No Rank Name
Operation Name
United Kingdom
Postal rates to the UK apply only as this charge incorporates delivery to the BFPO location. Maximum weight 2 kgs.
[ARCHIVED CONTENT] Welcome to the Official British Forces Post Office Website

Archived content, but I reckon that would work.
Didn't realise he was in Canada... just he was getting mail from abroad... chances are a Cannuck posty would know BFPO, but why take teh chance. They are people who's job revolves around matching the number on the house, with the number on the letter.

Don't confuse them. Lead them to where you want to go.

UK on the bottom line = airmail/surface mail to UK. Uk can figure the rest out.
Agree with above, just add United Kingdom to your BFPO address. I regularly send blueys and parcels from France to Op Herrick, they arrive in a matter of days.
Google BFPO postcodes, that'll give you the UK postcode, stick that under your BFPO address, then get the family to put UK, so the Canadians know where it's going. I think if you speak to the BFPO wallahs on tour, I'm sure you can get free postage back to your family in Canada, you'll have to take it into the clerks/BFPO each time, much like if someone wanted to send summat to the ROI.
Standing by for correction though
