Best Ranger competition

I've read about this competition held by the US Army Ranger Training Department. It's a three day fitness and military skills competition open to Ranger qualified personnel in both the US and foreign armies.

Looking at the schedule for this years event (it was held this weekend), it certainly looks like you'd have to be good just to finish, never mind win.

Take a look here for articles and video clips.

FORT BENNING, Ga.--April 21, 2007--Master Sgt. Walt Zajkowski and Maj. Liam Collins, of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C., show remarkable determination and skill on day three of the Army's Best Ranger Competition. The team finished first at the Camp Darby obstacle course and the Helocast, making them the winners of the 2007 Army Best Ranger Competition

Does anyone know of any comparable competitions in Europe?
Closest thing I can recall is the international Waffenlauf the Germans hold... was a single day competition open to all NATO personnel in which small teams conducted a ruck march with events such as rifle and machine gun marksmanship, grenade tossing, tanks and aircraft ID, calling for indirect fires, first aid, and other sundry tasks had to be performed. Finish line had a fest tent set up with lots of the lovely heffe on tap. Competed in 1990 with an ad hock team and did pretty well... all in all it was a fun, if tiring experience.

Hmmm...sounds like a bit of a giggle that!

Just out of interest, what would a "ranger-equivalent" be in the British Forces?
Erm, Cambrian Patrol anyone?
