Here is a UK centric question - what if any British made parts will be part of the aircraft? In the old days Westland used to sell rotor head components to other manufacturers - do they still do that as Leonardo?

There is key British technology on fixed wing aircraft such as the Saab Grippen and the new Korean fighter - so is this also true for helicopters?

it's hardly the same thing, is it? it still has the DNA of the original in the design, it's not claiming to *be* the original. a 911 from the 70s and one in the Porsche showroom now are vastly different on numerous levels, but are you going to argue the modern one isn't a 911?

I would bet that it has far more in common with the 212 than the origional UH1H and the names more about who the Ukranians are licenced to produce for, ie a clear divide on military / civil sales.

Stops the Ukranians competing on commercial contracts

Bell Huey IIA modified and re-engined UH-1H, significantly upgrading its performance, and its cost-effectiveness. Currently offered by Bell to all current military users of the type.

Over the last two decades I’ve come across several companies in the USA that have upgraded legacy Bell UH-1H to Huey II

Garlick Helicopters Inc (now gone, amalgamated taken over etc)
OAS (Overseas Aircraft Service) Inc Corp (now gone) my photos from Heli Expo 2010 in Houston

Dyncorp did upgrade conversiona to Global Eagle engine standard.
Canadian company Eagle Copters (my photo from Heli a expo 2013 in Las Vegas including their employees!!)

Northwest Helicopters Inc still going strong (my photos from Heli Expo, 2010 of their camouflaged mount (cough cough no points for guessing the customer be)

and then Heli a Expo 2014 in Anaheim of their upgraded work for the Dominican Republic Air Force.
