Beirut Explosion, so what was it?

How long before the nutters start blaming Israel?
ITV news didn't do that directly, but mentioned the Israelis several times and included the word 'denial'.

Bears no relation to the footage of the fire burning away with many small explosions for quite a while until the massive one. And anyway it's not 1982 - planes don't need to fly low to hit such a target.
Something goes badly wrong in an Arab country, who could be held responsible? Definitely NOT anyone local, 'cos they are all very competent, careful and never do anything dodgy, thus no local is culpable.

Therefore that only leaves the joooos.

S'obvious innit.

Sadly that does tend to be the mental modus operandi of the peoples of these parts (to include Iran and Afghanistan)

Ahhh, fair one.
Looking at the footage you can see small Flashes of light.. Fireworks going off prior to the explosion maybe.

I've never dealt with a BLEVE, not sure any in UK have tbh, but from lectures and videos there seems to be basically a BFO fireball when the cylinder/tank/vessel finally fails. That being said who knows here, as seems to be near water. Make you right on the firework theory though as you said, many small pops beforehand.

(I did assume Israeli Airforce smacked some hezbollah factory but appears not to be)

It's Mossad. They blew up the evidence.

On a more serious note RIP the poor blighters going about their lawful business.

Local med support now over capacity, turning walking wounded away. Urgent appeal for blood donation. Now would be a good time for Israel to offer some support and supplies, maybe some diplomatic credit to be earned?

Sure they will and the local numb skulls will most likely turn it down.

If it were possible. Whoever gets sent will need protecting, supplies need logistics etc , it will be seen by some to be another Lebanon incursion. You'd need days to plan it and weeks to get the dip clearance .

Ah yes, but as above, likely to be turned down, so see what you can do, offer x hundred litres of whole blood, in refrigerated trucks, at this crossing point at this time, protection is Beirut responsibility. Do it publicly. When refused, shrug and say "well we offered." If accepted send volunteers, and if security appears at risk turn around and state publicly why. Take some reporters to live transmit it.
