Bear skin hats, scrapped? Bolloc...

Did any one else see london new BBC? There was a story about the bear skin hats, and aminal rights fokes wanting them to be scrapped. But what made me laugh, was when they went to the MP leading the fight, Ann Widdecombe, and jsut as she starts to spout a load, the sounds cuts out.

This story of scrapping Bearskins seems to surface every 6 months or so, at the end of the day, the army should just say "Yeah, their artifical fur" and keep using the real ones, who would know, apart from everyone of course because I just told you!

From my perch by the seaside I understood that the skins were sourced from culls carried out in Canada to save Canucks becoming the bears' permanent dish of the day. So the bears would be dead anyway.

Wish the tree-huggers would go out bear-cuddling, that would thin the tree-huggers out.

IIRC, although I may be wrong. The Canadians cull bears every year, often numberin gin their thousands. If they didn't the bears would soon overrun the countryside, eat all the food, and then starve to death; along with other species whose food they would have eaten, or eaten the actual species themselves.

A mere fraction of these skins, a few hundred pelts, are purchased by the British ARmy (or their agents). 2 bear skins are required for each bear skin.

The bear would be dead anyway. Regardless of what the skin was used for.

Most bear skins stay in the Guards for decades. They are not thrown away that often.

Whilst I DO have a problem with the killing of animals for no reason (ie fashion) I don't see a problem with the using of pelts FROM animals that would have died regardless.

PETA can be a bunch of mongs at times. Animals need to be culled on occaison... fact.

Just a shame we can't cull the chavs

This was being chucked about 30 years ago.
Didn't work then, won't work now.

More likely PETA just aiming for a target it knows will get air time.

Obviously getting chicks naked for it's adverts doesn't work as well as they hope (well for getting people on side at any rate  )

Do they complain about the pelts used for specialist clothing for mountaineers and arctic/antartic explorer types?

Do they moan about leather shoes?

Ethical treatment of animals doesn't mean we can't use the pelts of culled animals for clothing of any sort. Perhaps if PETA stopped being dicks about it, they could introduce a system where they "authorised" ethically obtatained pelts.

The wayt those people go on you would think we killed bears in their thousands just for bearskins. Probably be lucky if there are 20 or thirty a year. My Bearskin when I was in was around 75 years old.

Are these the same Cnuts who broke into mink farms and released the non-native perisher into the countryside and are now killing rare indigenous species such as the red squirrel and eat the eggs of rare birds etc........?

I wish they'd feck orf and have a soothing drink of rats milk. I had one last year who was shouting something about saving some ugly furry thing and loved pointing out his nice leather shoes, twit shut up and started bothering someone else.

I had a lot of respect for old Ann Blithers before she sided with these animal rights folks, I would have thought she would know how the bearskins wear sought, and the method used to obtain them, Silly old duffer obviously needs a new platform after quitting the Houses of Palsyament.

Should probably ban Buff belts as they're made from animals and sam brownes, leather boots, leather shoes etc etc etc

Chocolate Frog, this story has achieved prominence on the Daily Mail website today, with a lot of ill-informed comments implying that the bears are killed solely for bearskins. You should use your post above on the Mail story to enlighten them.

PETA are on the loony fringe of Animal Rights groups. They tried to ban the sale of fish and chips in the restaurant at Undersea World in Fife. Like most of the Animal groups they are more People Who Hate People than People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Saw this on C4 news yesterday lunch time, PETA are using Ann Widdecomb as their VIP mouth piece. The tree huggers seem up in arms over the fact Canuk hunters shoot female bears with young cubs in tow (I guess the implication is that the cubs die soon after mummy goes off to the hatters!).

It's a non-story that as other say crops up every know and again. They'll be complaining that ammo boots are made out of leather and treated with bees wax next!

Shame this bunch of nonces have more thought for a fcuking bear than the welfare of injured guardsmen, but that's tree huggers for you I suppose...

Just tell em they were killed for scientific research - works for the Japanese whaling fleet!!!!

Could we kill PETA people and use their scalps for Bearskins?

After all, they'd lay their life down for critter.... wouldn't they?

They are the sort of balm pots who will set of a real life 28 days later.
