Be Ready - Age Legislation

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Through my letterbox today came a pamphlet/magazine/newsletter called Be Ready. It's a propoganda document about the impending anti-ageism legislation due in 2006.

From 2006 it will be against the law to discriminate against anyone on the basis of their age.

So, for example, you wont be able to refuse someone promotion 'because they're too young and inexperienced'

Join our "Young Dynamic Team" can not appear in job adverts

The policy (if there is such a thing) of moving people over 60 from physical strenuous jobs will be outlawed.

    etc etc
It doesn't mention MoD so it's probably exempt.

However, if they aren't, I wonder how this will affect the army?

Will it be possible to bring back boy soldiers? ("Fcuking hope not" is not the right answer)
Will soldiers be allowed to stay in until they drop?

BTW. If you want a free personal organiser they're giving them away.
