Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The story of British WW1 fighter aces looks good
  2. it is certainly fascinating stuff - reminds my brother and me of the Biggles books we loved as children
  3. Great programme - McCudden VC, DSO **, MC* MM and Mannock VC, DSO***, MC, wow!

In these days of DNA I wonder that the family, if they are still around, don't push to have that body identified.
  4. Good Programme that, really enjoyed it.

Sad that Mannock doesn't have a proper grave. Seems that that historian had it spot on as I cant see the Germans burying him in No Man's Land. As for McCudden his funeral was a disgrace considering the one give to Von Richoften, couldnt help but think it was down to his "born in barracks" status as that had been brought up quite often during his service.

    Brave Men.
