BBC bias in question (which way do they lean?)

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Mmm..
Never had an opinion on the French, or for that matter any other foreigner/tourist.
Until yesterday....on the train from Waverley back to Falkirk after taking in some of the Edinburgh Festival.
SWMBO & I stepped into the least busy looking carriage, spotter two seats together, and began to make our way towards them. All was well...until a back pack, expertly chucked, landed from the opposite direction onto one of these seats from behind SWMBO's head, and she ( at the age of 65 and a quiet, genteel Highlander) was pretty much pushed aside so the guy ( Frog1) sat it in it, who then popped said backpack on what was going to be my seat to ensure his pal got it.

We moved on, to the background of Frog dialect sniggering, much quaffing of wine from bottles, and general Fwit behaviours and watched from two other separate seats as 4 others joined them.
Suffice to say I was bloody mad, especially for SWMBO.
However, what neither of us knew, was that the whole incident had been observed from the other end by the ticket inspector, who "interviewed" the culprits, called for staff backup, and escorted all of them back off the train.
Of course, they will not be representive of a nation, but they were hardly a good example to their country.
40 years back I'd have hooked the ******, but...that was 40 years back.
We did not let it spoil what had been a great day out.

    Anyway, rant over.
On topic, frankly these days I try to avoid cross-info-saturation and find the OFF button a great antidote opinionated to politcal self grandiouse wibbles. And, that includes my home-bred SNP tossers these days I'm sad to say. Wandering around in a disappointed (political centered) wilderness these days TBH.

  3. Nah, not really.
It's Wee Nippy & her gang I've lost all confidence in. The SNP managed FDC failed massively on a number of levels with Education classroom manpowers and finance over a few years. Caused SWMBO and hundreds of fellow teachers lots of problems. Try £1.60 pence per annum per pupil for resource "equipment" Nothing unusual SWMBO and her fellows to spend £30/40 some months out their wage to buy what they needed. I kid not. Got to the stage HMRC looked into a tax adjustment for her, but it came to nothing.

Very possibly, its a sign of delusion when they believe vehemently that they are right without question. They ignore the charter when it suits them.

They failed to offer a balance, its clear in their charter.

I pay for a balanced view, they fail on this at every test, bar the incident regarding the sat navs.

That would make sense if I was forced to pay for their output. I rarely watch the news as it clashes with my daily routine. I would however prefer to see news with a balance and therefore be able to form my own view. Again the BBC failed at this point.
    FAILED!

  8. I have a sneaking suspicion that like many who are so vehemently opposed to the BBC, you don't actually pay for the license fee anyway. As you know, the enforcement aspect has been emasculated by both Labour and Tory governments of late and is no real deterrent - nor was it before.

It is like having a conversation with an SNP supporter this.

I wish , I had instructed 0A many times to tell them to get fucked but as she has been in court over it before it gets paid.

I think it's more that the news team sit around and think up what they're going to write then throw in something for "balance" but they're so far off centre to start with that they can't comprehend that others don't see it that way.

I'm not opposed to the BBC per se. If they really did follow their own rules and cut the touchy feely stuff then I'd drop some opposition to the license fee. As it stands they even stuff up their own people and blest about equality whilst paying women less. They really are incompetent nimcompoops
