Battle Day

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Am I alone in deploring the coverage of the FI Battle Day remembrance service yesterday? A broadsheet managed four colums and a picture, giving a full description of Falklands War incidents and Mrs T's dress but forgot to acknowledge that the ceremonies were in remembrance of the 1914 battle rather than the 1982 war.

10 British sailors were killed and 19 wounded. 1871 German sailors lost their lives by contrast. Graf von Spee's squadron was exterminated. A great day for British naval history and apparently 93 years later quite forgotten by the public/media...
  2. A chance for the Royal navy to avenge Coronel, Interesting book to read by G Bennett. If only the papers had mentioned exactly why Baroness Thatcher was laying it.
