Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I don't know if anyone else here has to pay these but at my regiment we appear to be getting ripped off. Our subs vary about the batteries from £3 a month to £10 a month. The thing is, I'm told by whoevers been dicked to collect them that they're compulsory while other people say that its totally voluntary. Can anyone give me a clear answer on this issue? On a side note, I didn't pay subs once due to being on a course and got back to be told that I had an agai waiting for me and I was lucky I wasn't in jail for it.
  2. in jail, for batteries?

    Did I read that right?
  3. You are being made to pay for the batteries you have stolen?
  4. Now that I have been beaten to the battery jokes, the answer to your question is no you don't have to pay it and you can't be officially punished for refusing to do so.
Pay close attention to the word "officially".
