Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. morning all i have been looking on previous posts but cannot find anything relating to how long you have to complete your basic training i.e
is there a maximum time scale
    any info would be great
  2. I have heard of one person who took two and a half years

i'm looking at a year and a half because of work and injury but not sure if theres a limit?
  3. I know a guy, that due to a lack of commitment on his part and poor admin from his unit, took 2 years to complete his basic.
  4. With the new system. It can be very difficult to elongate your basic training.

1A completed in unit 2x Weekends.
    1B at an RTC 4x Weekends(Usually).
You then have eight weeks to attend your 2 week 1C course before you require revalidation from the 1B RTC. After 6 months from your 1B course then you will be required to re-attend the full 1B again.

Quite a few repeat 1B for a variety of reasons, usually missed weekends through work commitments.

Each unit should be able to answer your questions. Or at least know someone else that can answer them correctly.
  5. thanks for clearing that up much appreciated guys
