Barrett .50bmg Kaboom...

    Came across this on another site today.

    Reportedly occurred in Honduras.

    Story goes that the round failed to fire. The shooter didn't wait to see if it was a hang-fire, but pulled the bolt to the rear and the round went off

    Ammo was dated from '82. No additional info at this time.

    Shooter is lucky...he has nasty looking gash in his face...can post graphic pic upon request (if this sort of stuff is allowed on here ?)

  9. Lucky he did'nt lose his hand as well. The Recoil Buffers on those are cheap plastic material that gets battered pretty quickly.

    Funny thing is I've used .50 Made by Frankford Arsenal in 1954 & Winchester-Western though one with not even a twitch.

    Didn't some American lunatic design a handgun that fired .50BMG, or was that a myth? I vaguely recall something about the ATF taking a dim view of it.
