Barclays to defer bonuses for up to three years

  2. A lot of banks pay elements of bonuses in shares or options, in tranches which vest over 2, 3 or 5 year periods. It locks in the staff, or saves the bank money if they do leave.

    Macquarie, HSBC and Goldmans leap immediately to mind, but most other investment banks do it as well. It's been happening for years, so not really newsworthy.

  3. How does this affect me. I only want to pay off my mortgage and credit cards.
    Will it make a difference to Mr average man, if the bankers get a huge bonus. That's what they are there for. As we are no longer a manufacturing base, if they pay the most taxes to keep Britain afloat,Why should anyone grumble. I look forward to being a leech on society. I only wish I had the knowhow to be able to be a drain on my local taxpayers.
