  1. Hi there, i'm new to the forum and wanted to ask a question. I'm currently thinking of joining the Army as an avionics technician and went to my local AFCO a few days ago to ask some questions, but there was one that i forgot that was actually pretty important.

What i wanted to know was what kind of formal training do you actually recieve in the your chosen field whilst in the forces? For instance, if i was to join today and start around march would i get trained and become a fully qualified avionics tech in the next 5 years or so? Or you have to do all the training with the forces then go elsewhere to sit tests and examinations to become qualified once you've gained enough experience?

I'm just wondering because in the future i plan to emigrate to Australia and would need to be a qualified avionics tech by that point.

    Thanks,

    Marc
