Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. My husband was killed in Iraq in 2004, i now receive an attributable war widows pension does anybody know if this is supposed to be tax free as i've been paying tax for years and now the tax office say all army pensions are tax free and i don't need to declare it to them. I' confused help.=\\\\
  2. Thank you for this information. There's a widows pension and an army pension the tax office are saying it's tax free and are looking into paying me back, hope this isn't another cock up of theres don't fancy paying it back, after they have paid out
  3. Just to confirm that a War Pension paid to a Serviceman or woman in resect of their own injury is normally tax free but a war widow's pension is taxable. I hope this is helpful.
  4. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I don't have the details to hand but i'm sure they (widows pensions) were mentioned in the annual newsletter we receive with our P60's each May/available online.
