ATC Pirbright - sticky thread for all discussion concerning recruit training 2019

Awh that will be why, Electronic technician is a priority role as there's a shortage of them currently.
Im going for aircraft technician and i finished selection a month ago and still haven't hear anything back.
I started my application in july 2017 then got told i was being fast tracked in January but apparently not:(

From what I've read on previous threads, Aircraft technician and Electronic Technician are very similar jobs. The only difference being that one work on aircraft and the other on land vehicles.

I do recall reading somewhere also that for every 10 spaces open for a technician, 2 are for aircraft and 8 are for the elecronics technician. It may be worth speaking to your recruiter and seeing if you were to change role whether or not it would speed up your application.

When it comes down to it i just want to do something with aircraft so i was considering whether to try and change my role to aviation ground crew specialist with the Army Air Corps and seeing if that will get me in any faster?

Hi mate, most intakes appear to be full or there abouts till March/April.
I’m in the process of being loaded for July 19th... they’ll start loading more intakes for May, June, July soon I assume

Thats a bit shit then, I was told id be starting phase 1 around the end of march/ beggining of april but that doesnt seem likely anymore

I think that's a question you should ask your recruiter.

After a quick look on the army website, trades are a priority (there's a shortage of applicants are as follows)

- Nurse
- Communication systems Engineer - Operator
- Driver
- Electronic Tech
- Geographic Tech
- Guardsman
- Infantry Soldier
- Operator Technical Intelligence

Choosing any of these roles would most likely speed up your application. Dont change because you want to get it quickly though. Finding a trade that is right for you is much more important than speeding up the application.

Yeahh i done research on the roles i was originally looking at Aircraft technician but thought the fact electronics technician was a priority it would help me get in faster.

I was told Feb! Waiting game mate. It’s BS but stick with it, keep onto your CSM too, rang mine every couple days for a few weeks until they eventually contacted the loading team for an update

AAC ground crew Phase 2 starts end of August/early September so you’d have to start Phase 1 by May

I dont really want to change but if i did it would still be something aircraft related which is my main interest

I originally applied for aircraft tech but was told it could be a very long wait, so I decided to go with my second option Armoured Engineer
