The Taliban militia itself admits that it cannot take on so many men in direct combat.

"We are trying not to engage with them too soon because there are a lot of them and they would use air force in which case there will be civilian casualties," spokesman Yousuf Ahmadi told Agence France Presse".

When you consider the millions of dollars and people involved in media and PR in the USA alone, let alone allied nations...then this quite brilliant spin-back becomes even more impressive.

I am also somewhat amused by the idea of AFP talking to an "official" Taliban spokesman. What next, merchandising?

I seem to remember that the PIRA were better at the propaganda war as well. Perhaps it's about time we beefed up our PR (or should that read 'sexed' up?)
