This must be to shield them from the dayglo colours, because I can't see any other reason to wear sunglasses in Wales.
Also, a few wearing '<Insert Club> Runners' tops don't fit my mental image of what shape running club members are usually in. Fair play to them for doing the run - I would have collapsed on the way from the car to starting line.

Actually, I do enjoy a bit of reenactment at such occasions. Not too much, but a bit. It is the tubby middle-aged ones with milk-bottle glasses and really serious expressions that make me laugh.
