Really outstanding. Saw the full moon from the Isle of Wight tonight. Your pic of the moon, complete with bird escorts, is fantastic.

A single hiking pole, or even a monopod hiking pole (get one off ebay for about a tenner) is great for stuff like that.

The third point of contact gives great stability.

Plus you can use the monopod to steady your camera rather than lug the tripod about.

I got a tripod where one of the legs screws off to use as a hiking pole/monopod too.
