Some images of todays partial eclipse.
Taken at 11:15
4 neutral density filters used and partial cloud cover helped.

According to many sources Lochinver was going to be the best location in mainland UK for the eclipse

Yonks ago (before Victorian times I think) Cats were occasionally sealed under the floorboards of new houses, as a blood sacrifice to ward off evil spirits. Which is why people sometimes find them in old houses. In case you didn't know already
Cats and rabbits were also dropped into septic tanks. The resulting bacteria would kick start the bio digestion for the system.

Leibstandartes summer camp wasn’t it. All those monuments and shit were for sporting icons as far as I know. Are the cross and Eagle still growing in the forest across the lake?

As far as I was lead to believe (from the old geezer that showed us round the old museum in the early mid 80,S, there was a form in the trees across the lake formed by a different mix of trees, it was (if it existed?I have found no photographic proof) basically eradicated.

It was a training camp for young hopefull SS kids in the war era.

A strange monument.

I went there with the Scots Greys, C sqn, about 69/70ish. A Cent went over the edge going down the hill to the lake, you could hear the crew on the radio. It took out a load of trees but stopped before going over the cliff into the lake. 4 sets of underwear kneaded changing after that. Was a big job retrieving it.

Red circle was the range target area, green circle is where the symbols were in the trees. If you happen to ricochet tracer rounds from your GPMG up in to the green circle, it burns really well.
The range warden then has to row his little boat across the lake to it, to put the fire out, while everyone else has to sit around smoking while they wait. You can then have the fat nonce CO bollock you as if you did it on purpose. Just like me! “Yes Sir, I meant to bounce tracer in to the woods, because I definitely wanted to burn the forest down”

Here's Donkey's Head beach in (probably) 1976:

The adoo XI scratched.

With a much better camera than my Kodak instamatic!
You've got me wondering if we were actually at Al Mughsayl that weekend now.
We would go to both Donkeys and Mughsayl regularly at the weekend but now I'm not sure where I was when I took the pic. Not hard over there.
I used to pop down to Beer Can beach at Raysut most days after work for a dip.

This was taken in Glastonbury last week, it sort of made me think of @Kirkz , maybe it's the happy face and because it's old and weathered (in a nice way of course).

Last week in Bude, that's the Storm tower on the headland, it needs saving from coastal erosion.

In those days I used an Olympus Pen EE2, a half-frame camera. Those shots were scanned prints, my scanned negatives are even poorer.
