I bet it would, and I was tempted a while back, but I think too much gear isn't good. I reckon 'creative limitations' force you to focus on and get better with the gear you've got and that's the way to improve.

even some of the cheapo ones give a good image, a chap I know who takes pictures of properties for sale, uses one to find the best loction to photograph from, so missing out Nuclear power stations, pikey camps, and dodgy housing estates
I think his was under a grand new, but you can get them secondhand
