Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. While looking for a set of duplicate medals (to save getting my originals out of their frame every November) I came across these gems from a web site called

Army Service Medal | with British Crossed Swords Emblem

they also do individual regimental ones.

Army Catering Corps Medal | Royal Logistic Corps Service Medals

My question is presuming you've served would you want to buy or wear one (for the record I'm more than happy with the ones I earned and was given)? To be fair the web site does say they shouldn't be worn with, or instead of official medals which begs the question why buy them and what would you do with them if you did? Sounds a bit waltish to me?
  2. Buy them stick them in the frame/case and wear the originals.
  3. Yeah may do that
  4. ... and lock up the originals in a safe place when you aren't wearing them! The burglars can have the cheap copies.
  5. The OP is not talking about replicas. He's talking about fake walt medals.
  6. At least it'll be a lot easier to spot the walts, they're getting better all the time.
  7. I agree. A friend of mine has the CGC and has been advised by his insurers to 'safe' the originals and wear copies whilst on public duties and the like. His Regiment is OK with this as well.
