Army Prisoner Escapes for Third Time

By Andrew Barrow, PA

A Gulf War veteran facing firearms charges has escaped from Army custody for the third time in three months, it emerged today.

Military and civil police are hunting Lance Corporal James Piotrowski, 21, who escaped from his London barracks on Wednesday, the day before he was due to face a court marshal for stealing weapons.

It is thought Piotrowski, who served for three months in Iraq with the 1st Battalion Irish Guards, may return to his home city of Birmingham to be with family and friends.

After previous escapes he has been seen in the city.

A military police spokesman said there had been no confirmed sightings of the soldier since his escape.

He added: “Police have been alerted and an investigation has begun to determine how he was able to escape.”

Piotrowski was last arrested shortly before Christmas when armed officers raided a house in the Yardley Wood area of the city.

He escaped while being taken to hospital for a routine medical examination.

He first escaped from the Irish Guards’ Wellington barracks, near Buckingham Palace, in November.

He was facing court marshal after two assault rifles were stolen from his London base.

If convicted he could face a term in an Army prison.

A similar series of events happened in the Bn some 20 odd years ago. The provo sgt was consigned to history and the new one decided that the cnuts in the gaol were not going to screw up his career by reenacting 'The Great Escape'.

The day after his appointment as head bully boy said sgt went to the REME and had them fashion 4 x balls and chains, 1 for each prisoner.

For about a week the prisoners went around with a helmet on, coveralls with the word 'PRISONER' painted on it and manacled to his ankle a big, heavy chain and ball. There were no escapees that week, but the Brigadier got to hear about it and his ideas of human rights were slightly more liberal than the Provo Sgts!

Imagine the press getting hold of pictures of that!!! :p

If he has been reading ARRSE, maybe he is just on his way home to register as a service voter.
