FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The Army is investigating allegations that several National Guard soldiers ran nude outside their barracks last week.
Four to seven soldiers from the 1st Battalion of the 130th Aviation Regiment - including the unit's commander - were reportedly seen naked outside the barracks near Butner Road, said Maj. Jan Northstar, a spokeswoman for the 2125th Garrison Support Unit, which is overseeing the mobilization of National Guard and Reserve soldiers on Fort Bragg.
"This is indefensible," Northstar said. "It is not the type of behavior we condone."
The 18th Airborne Corps' Inspector General's Office is conducting a formal inquiry based on an anonymous phone call it received, said Maj. Gary Tallman, an 18th Airborne Corps spokesman. The office reports on the discipline, efficiency, morale, training and readiness of units in the 18th Airborne Corps and on Fort Bragg.
The 130th Aviation Regiment is staying in the barracks with other National Guard and Army Reserve units as it prepares to deploy.
It is unclear whether the investigation will have any effect on the Morrisville-based unit's deployment schedule.
