Scepticism

HectortheInspector said I voted no -
The project is ill thought out, because its built on a huge unstable pile of untested assumptions.
Firstly, yes, you CAN build a 'New Model' Reserve if the TACOS are good enough. Pay enough peanuts, you'll get enough monkeys.
BUT
No, you can't assume it will be deployable
No, you can't count on the retention
No, the pool of recruits is not unlimited. There's a worldwide demographic bulge-Youngsters aren't as thick on the ground as they used to be.
No, the laid off Regulars will not flock to the TA.
No, the Regular Army is not ready in mind or spirit to put in the effort to bring the TA up to scratch.
Beemer07 said Army2020 is rather too optimistic and both the Reg & TA both need to change its culture along with MB.
It was mentioned during the evidence session threads that there was some scepticism on the Army Rumour Service into the achievability of Army2020. Our poll for Army 2020 currently has 307 votes.
Of these, 78.50% of you have voted No to the question of:

Do you think Army 2020 is achievable?

I am glad that there's a healthy degree of challenge and scepticism in the Regular Army.
There's a damn sight more in the TA!

Credit where credit's due DOT - I was one of the sceptics when your forum was first mooted.

As for the Herr General, when he was challenged with the view of the Arrse collective, I sensed he was sorely tempted to expatiate on the subject of Arrse and its membership.

He did do gritted teeth very politely
