Are the Army being Age-ist?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm 33, reasonably fit in the TA and interested in transfering into the army...

    BUT.... age limit is 27?

    Am I over the hill?
  2. But to allow you just to get to the EDP point under the new pension scheme would mean staying in until you were at least 45 and your maximum service if you were allowed to stay on until 55 would only be 28 years.
  3. Go for an "S Type" Enlistment: limit is 40 years old. It's Regular service for a fixed term. See your ACIO for more information.

  4. Whatever you do, do not accept an 'S' type engagement. Once you are on one of these you are stuck. If you really want to join the forces go to the Royal Navy as they recruit up to the age of 37 :?
