Are any units running a RSW this weekend (1-3 June)

#1
Sadly, i can't make the RSW being run by my unit in a fortnight, but to save having to wait 2 months for the next cycle i'd like to travel to another unit to do it this weekend if possible.

I'm based in Dorset but am happy to travel up to 3/4 hours to do one this weekend.

I've completed all of the paperwork and just need to pass the RSW so i can start my training.

Cheers in advance

I've had my part 1b cancelled twice now, i've heard nothing from my unit for over two months about getting it re booked, i've done eight days since i joined in August last year and so far I've been paid £30.50p

Its beyond a joke.

Charlie 1989, Unfortunately, there is little you as an individual can do to get around this issue with the system the way it currently is. You need to go to your PSAO (if you're from the unit I think you are that's Capt C), and explain your situation, he may be sympathetic.
Even if you could find an alternative, you will still have to go through your PSAO to book you onto it. Maybe you could find out what the Yeomanry are doing at Bovvy? The program will be the same.
Failing that, you'll have to hang out with your wang out till the next one comes around. Crap ..... yeah I know, but if your keen enough to join then a couple of weeks won't hurt, and you can still do your tuesday nights.

Right, I was in the position you were in, and the answer is to do the following:

1) Whinge to your Troop/Platoon Officer
2) Whinge to your Troop/Platoon Sergeant
3) Whinge to your Company/Squadron/Battery Recruiting Sergeant
4) Repeat 1, 2, 3 and 4
5) Repeat 1, 2, 3 and 4
6) Think of not being paid as a long term savings plan. I did, and the piss up at the end was phenomenal.

Just remember to whinge in a way thats "I'm keen to get on with it", rather than "I'm whinging for the sake of it", and you'll be fine.

Cheers Prae, the problem is that i'm in a specialist unit so i don't have access to or even know who most of the people you talk about are!

I have a telephone number and email address of the lady in the recruiting office, i'm sure she is doing all she can as she never has enough free time to answer the phone or reply to emails!

Very true, the rate of pay is sh*te and you'll be (more than likely) waiting months for the first payment to arrive. Join with a view to it being a bit of easy extra cash and you'll be sorely disappointed, think of it as more a perk of the job. However, if you join because you want to be a part of something worthwhile then you will love the the TA and the other benefits it has to offer.

Good luck :)

Crikey- i didn't mean for this thread to turn into anything negative for the TA. My point of view is just like Tigerbaby's above and i only wanted to get into it faster, not slag it off in any way.

Soon after i started this thread, my superiors found a course run within an easy distance and went out of their way to get me on it. I've just got back from that course and if the rest of the weekends are anyway near as fun then i'm staying in until they drag me back to Olds Peoples Home.

Cheers,
Charlie

Charlie1989, glad you got a course sorted out. Didn't see you last night so I assume you're in the middle of exams. Hope you've had a hair cut!
