Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I recently retired from the military after 24 years colour service reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. I commuted my pension and took the higher gratuity and lower pension. I am looking to join the TA and the MPGS, now the question is what impact does that have on my pension and do I have to do anything just before my 55th birthday when it reverts to what the pension would be at now...

    Kind Regards

    Dave

  2. MPGS - 30 day break in service and your pay + current pension cannot be greater than your last paid salary so as a SSgt you will be safe until promotion to Sgt (depending on range and level)
If you go over, pension is abated

There is a new DIN making the process of joining the TA for Regs easier - 2012 01-018, as Escotia said, no effect on pension
