Anyone with sewing experience?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Anyone here skilled with sewing, can work with Kevlar and wants some paid work? Please send me a PM.

There are no particular safety issues working with woven Kevlar compared to other fabrics. All cutting will be done with special shears.

The MSDS for woven Kevlar can be found below - no surprises.

    I will supply:
    1) Woven Kevlar
    2) Kevlar yarn
    3) Kevlar cutting shears

I expect the work to involve cutting out the necessary shapes from a roll of woven Kevlar and sewing together these pieces with Kevlar yarn. Apart from the challenges of working with a high tensile strength fibre, if you've worked with other fibres you can probably work with Kevlar. No grinding or sawing necessary hence no concern about aerosolisation of bits of the fibres (the main concern in the MSDS).

Work will be under a non-disclosure agreement. Payment in any form you request :)
  2. Sounds like it might be good for an Ex Squipper or a RM Kit repairer/maitainer whatever they're called.
