Can anyone recommend a watch with a good pedometer built in?
No, but Garmin do a relatively cheap and xtremely accurate (GPS) pedometer, that also measures time, pace etc etc
Garmin forerunner 301 is what you want. It gives you all the information a runner will need. It tells you how far you have run, the time, the speed and even syncs with your computer to keep training records. It looks like a giant watch but very good I have heard.
Garmin 301 for me also, pedometers are by the main useless in running situations
SUUNTO T6 with Footpod. Got one of these last year and the foot pod is surprisingly accurate once calibrated.
