  1. Hi I was just wondering if any posties in the TA could tell me if they have any problems from Royal mail over them being in the TA?
i.e are they helpful when you need time off for camp? Thinking of looking in to joining.

    Thanks

  2. I don't have first hand experience, but I met a RAF Reserves Regt postie and he did a 10 month tour or so. Never mentioned any aggro from RM. Best thing to do is speak to them and be straight up.

  3. I remember my DOM (yes I know) when I was a postie saying that RM had changed their policy on the TA, but as I had recently left I didn't ask what the changes were. Best check with HR at RM first.

  4. One of our lads in our HQ coy is a posty and has done two tours....and he was used as a "example" for Armed forces day "wear your uniform to work day"

  5. Theres a whole postie regiment in the national TA at Grantham. AFAIK they all work for RM - they certainly target Royal Mail employees as part of their recruiting programme.

  6. I am a postie and my line managers are very good but it depends on the manager really.
You also get two weeks paid leave from Royal Mail.

  7. I know that if you used to join the TA as a Postal & Courier Operative, it was classed as a Specialist Trade and you weren't required to attend as many/any drill nights etc. More focus on annual camp and the like. This may have changed tho'.

  8. I'm a postie and was in the TA before I joined RM. My DOM and line managers have been good about it and have really helped when I've needed time off for training. Officially RM gives you 2 weeks paid and 9 days unpaid leave on top of your annual leave for TA. I say go for it!

  9. I have always been on leave when they visited RM

  10. I hear it's a good way to top your earnings while your on strike!

  11. Glad somebody else said it. Mr Serwotka is a grinning quasi-communist cunt that needs a 9mm brain haemorrage, stat.

  12. The way you work-shy tools go on strike, leave for annual camp shouldn't be too difficult to organise

  13. Posties are the scum of the earth.
