There's a Russian made box set/tv series on Amazon Prime about them. Can't remember the blooming name of it now but once you get past the dodgy translated subtitles, it's not bad.

Night Swallows? or Night Witches in the Sky?

The former is pretty recent while the second one is a 1981 film.

This one is captioned A german veteran of both Franco-Prussian War and WWI in his old uniform as part of a veteran‘s rally, 1936.

There were 43 years between the end of the Franco-Prussian War and the start of WW1 so he must have been a hoary old veteran even in 1914.

1951 ‘Dog’ test in Operation Buster, with a yield of 21 kilotons of TNT, first U.S. nuclear field exercise conducted with live troops maneuvering on land. Troops shown are 6 mi from the blast. The Nevada Test Site was/is 65 miles NE of Las Vegas, 100 mi. from St. George, Utah.

Health and Safety completely thrown out the window. Both pics from

Wonder if thats Holman himself in the background.

One of those odd wacky inventions that looks at first sight like a useless Heath Robinson device, but in fact had quite an astonishingly successful take-up by the forces.

Wiki comments that the MkII version was not too good as it had only downed "a dozen or so aircraft" in its first year of service. IMHO thats actually amazingly successful for something that was literally just a pipe, an air/steam line and a grenade in a bean tin!.
