Any London based commando engineers out there?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Can anyone give me a heads up on 131 cdo engineer squadron? What sort of stuff do they do? are they into PT? what kind of specialisms are available within the unit? and last but by no means least is there a good social scene there?
(i'm ex regs but do not have a chip on my shoulder about the TA)

    any info appreciated, ta.

  2. Thanks for that dude, I've read all the marketing stuff on their websites. I was after a 'from the horses mouth' kind of briefing ie. are they up their own arses or are they a good bunch of lads up for a laugh etc

  3. Apparently they were originally a Airbourne unit rather than a amphibious one, so a few of the old sweats have wings as well as daggers. Oh err mrs!

  4. Correct, was 131 Airborne Engineer Regiment (give or take some minor adjustment to title) at one time. Has the unusual distinction - before these times of moibiisations - of having seen action in Aden on their annual camp, apparently!

  6. Thanks, don't get me wrong, thats all very interesting but whats it like there NOW.

  7. from the impression I had of them on Telic 1 they're an excellent bunch of lads, we were co-located with them for a while and their admin set up certainly put our management to shame and worked with them on a job where on the whole they performed excellently.

  8. look on the web page for 131cdo, was good lads, got about alot for TA, not just on op,s. hope you can spare the time.

  9. A load of 131 were on the same OPTAG as me. Good bunch, fit, professional bit of black humour going on about their bad day on TELIC 1.

About a million years ago I did the AACC alongside gunners from 289 and sappers from 131 and they were fine then and from what I recently saw nothing seems to have changed.

No different from the lads I have met from 59 in attitude, apperance, fitness or ability. One of the Troops, Hull is converting to Para.
