Aye it was c company Im into. Fancy doin a bit of infantry soldiering and just want to make sure I get the right unit. With the summer challenge do you get home at weekends or is it 7 weeks straight? It seems a good idea tho, get it all done in one go then get right into the unit when you return. Do you know if they are gonna be actively recruiting through the next year?

7 weeks non stop, starts next week, there always actively recruiting,if your from glasgow or closer then C company would probably be better since you wouldn't have to travel far, there's only 2 TA infantry units in scotland ,6 scots lowland and 7 scots highland there is detachments throughout scotland

6 scots

The Battalion's Headquarters are in Glasgow and there are detachments in Ayr, Bathgate, Dumfries, Edinburgh, Galashiels and Motherwell.
7 scots

The Battalion's headquarters are in Perth and there are detachments in Aberdeen, Dumbarton, Dundee, Dunoon, Inverness, Keith, Kirkcaldy, Peterhead, Stirling, Stornoway and Wick.

Para does sound like a real challenge. Does it have good opportunities for courses, deployments Etc?
Do they recruit frequently cos I thought they were very popular and have waiting lists?

I was considering infantry a well but at 30 years old Im a bit put off. Arent most recruits 18- 21ish which would make me feel like the old man standing at the school gate. Not that I stand at school gates.

The average TA Infantry recruit tends to be around 25ish, with many over 30's in the mix. AT 30yrs old you'd be a youngster in my platoon! As long as youo can hack the physical stuff (and everything is a lot more pyhsical in the Infantry) then you'll be A-OK. Pop along to your nearest Infantry unit and see if it is the right thing for you.
