Gen, used to 'work' at 71 Aircraft Workshops, Detmold, AKA 'Malfunction Junction'. Must have used his skull for the MRHVA 'bonk-test' once too often.

As an infantry unit we at one time had name tags. Fashion and the CO.Assuming that he’s wearing his own uniform, I’m going to posit that Cpl Hockley is a VM, Storeman or possibly metalsmith. As pointed out upthread, only R SIGNALS wore nametags, and the particular one he’s wearing is from the German supplier. There were only two, and they used different what we would now call fonts on the tags. Lancashire Pleating Company in UK made the UK-based ones and the PRIs in Germany had a contract with a Boxhead company. His tag is of the latter type.
He probably served with a R SIGNALS unit at some point, and the RSM made the LAD wear nametags. Clearly he’s also been to an AAC unit or REME Ac Wksp. We had our own “tels techs”, so he’s not one of those, and R SIGNALS LADs would have no use for any kind of Air Tech.
All of which surprises me, because if he’s been to a R SIGNALS unit, he’d have been well-versed in ironing JHWs, and those shoulder pads are in fvcking rag order, as is the rest of the jersey.
