Any Green Howards recognise this trophy?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I found this photo on a thread on the Great War Forum. Anyone know what this trophy is/was called, and what it was for? A regimental or battalion shooting competition perhaps? As far as I can see it was at least in use till 1936.

Link to the thread in question: Identification of these men - Soldiers - Great War Forum

  2. An early Daily Telegraph cup maybe ?
  3. The DT trophies I've seen from 20s were larger stand-alone things.

Most references seem to be to home counties involvement, footguards, HAC, Bedfords.

I would seem that the post-war press barons recognised the value of marksmanship and other soldiering skills.
