Any DWR or Yorshire Regt Here?

#1
Have a friend who has an old relly - got the MC in WW1.

Sgt in the W Riding Regt and got to Lt in the Yorkshire Regt.

We're trying to find the citation.

Any ideas - done all the usual but nothing so far.

IWM have his medals - confirmed they exist but still don't know what the MC was won for?

Anyone able to help? reply below if you can and we'll take it off line.

You might try the Army Medals office in Droitwich, if they issued the medals they may have a record of the citation. Failing that RHQ of whatever regiment the West Riding ended up as.

If you can establish the date from regimental records or from the medal roll then try the London Gazette or even the local newspaper for the area he lived in. "Local Boy Gets MC" would likely have been the subject of an article or at least a listing in the rag as it made more cheerful news than the latest listing of dead and missing.
