even though I dont like guns, I cannot see what this can achieve other than to alienate a large part of the farming community, and teaching youngsters to be responsible with weapons stops them getting stupid later on
my father taught me to drive at an early age, so when the local kids tried to impress me with a nicked car and offered me a ride, I told them to sod off already driven a car properly
Signed. Why is this legislation necessary? The police are already in a position where they say they are too stretched to investigate "minor" crime. Such a law would mean that they would have even less time to do so. A cynic might say that by introducing such a law, the police could then claim a higher success rate of "firearm" offences.
Interesting to see that most of the dark red (higher no of signatures) constituencies are all conservative, while one of them (Westmorland) is Lib Dem.

I can't believe the utter stupidity in bringing this Bill in. Living in the country as I do and sometimes battling to reduce the rat population from coming in from the fields an air rifle is an essential tool.
My son was taught how to use an air rifle safely and then to kill rats and his children will continue that skill - who knows, one of them may end up shooting clays for England one day.
Signed, typical of our pathetic "pc" society & establishment who are up in arms over legitimate country pursuits and yet seem unconcerned that knife & (illegally held) gun crime are at an all time high

Taunton Deane doesn't seem to be pulling its weight, despite being a rural constituency with lots of livestock farms (i.e. lots of hay and straw stockpiled for rats to flock to). Then again, news doesn't travel very fast around here.
