Well done that man.
I'm a bit disturbed with some of the comments though.
Don't agree with the war, fine, take it up with The Government.
I assumed people who bought 'quality' newspapers rather than the red tops, had at least an iota of intelligence.
Words fail me.

One would have supposed the "airborne assault supported by B1 bombers and Apache and Cobra helicopter gunships" would have murdered enough Afghans without this jerk's help but there you go.
I suggest that, before they pin a colourful array of medals on his manly chest, he is asked why he is in Afghanistan murdering its citizens. If he scratches his head and stares blankly into the distance, maybe they should keep the medals and boot him *********** instead
.

I wouldn't worry - the Independent stopped being a real newspaper about 8 years ago.

Some brilliant comments there now.

Next time I am faced with a situation which requires any kind effort or sefless act I will follow your example and sit on my sofa making negative comments about the individual that carried out the task instead. It is truly admirable that you vent your feelings of worthlessness by trying to put down those that have been bothered to take a good look at themselves and behave in some kind of responsible manner. I truly feel safe knowing the country is being defended from your armchair and keyboard. If I recieve any medals rest assured I will send them straight to you, pride of the nation, a toole you are indeed.

The 'SUN' had a full spread on the story today. I look forward to the book that will follow, the marines have been taking it to the TB. Saw Ross Kemp talking to them, what is with their haircuts? they look as if they went straight from the Falklands to A'stan and skipped the 90's

Good on them, keep it up lads.

Yes we all have freedom of speech Many people know what the words Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honour, Integrity, and Personal Courage mean. But how often do you see someone actually live up to them? One thing is for sure our British Soldiers they give Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honour, Integrity, and Personal Courage to our country.
A couple of people who have made out spoken comment's about our troops are not going to stop the British Public from supporting our troops who are men and women who are out there risking there lives for our Queen and country! ...
Please do not judge someone until you have walked a day in there "combat, while at war boots".

Well done to the marine

Royal Legend. Much respect

In response to the lefties who do not understand courage

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself" -- John Stuart Mill
